The Goran Končar& Darko Jurković Quartet project was assembled to test the borderlines of classical music and jazz. Their repertoire includes one world premiere that will take place during Rijeka Summer Nights. Little did anyone know that there is a composition titled Capriccio for solo violin and jazz quartet by one of the biggest Croatian composers – Boris Papandopulo. Those who did know about it also knew that it was never publicly performed. This crossover of classics and jazz had a very peculiar path; the composition written for a big jazz festival, accidentally ended up in Yugoslavian radio television. It laid there, buried in depots, waiting... And finally, its day has come! When it was discovered by Goran Končar, a world renowned violinist, it then began the venture of forming a group that would be able to perform it.
However, it would be a waste if it all ended with Papandopulo, so a complex repertoire combining the discipline of classics and the breeziness of jazz was born. It is an excellent repertoire with superior musicians who, beside the extraordinary mutual respect also demonstrate the unquenchable thirst for testing of limits – limits of the genre, as well as their own.
