Marunada is the traditional food festival dedicated to the special type of sweet chestnut that thrives only on the slopes of Mount Učka, and which is known locally as "marun" (hence the name of the event). The sweet chestnuts from Lovran are distinguished by their specific sweet taste and are used to create the interesting sweets presented at this festival. In addition to cakes and pancakes, which you will find only here and nowhere else, the Marunada, which was listed as one of the ten most important food festivals in Europe by international media, offers visitors a wide range of other dishes prepared with sweet chestnuts, as well as the opportunity to buy the fruit raw or roasted. The Marunada also includes a musical programme with popular local bands.

Group Gali on Saturday 23 May playing at student evening Lovran Music Festival, which starts at 21:00.
The festival has a humanitarian character, and the proceeds from ticket sales go to the Orphanage "Ivana Brlić Mažuranić" in Lovran. Admission is 20 HRK.
