Sommer Freilichtbühne

Die Freilichtbühne war ursprünglich als Kurpalast mit Konzertsälen, einem Schwimmbad mit künstlichen Wellen, Geschäften und Cafés geplant. Der Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkrieges verhinderte das Projekt und die neuen italienischen Herrscher bauten dort einen Strand (heute Lido) und Tennisplätze.

Später wurde es in ein Open Air Theater umfunktioniert, in dem 1930 und 1931 Europäische Operettenfestivals mit Komponisten wie Lehár und Kálmán aufgeführt wurden.

In den 50er Jahren wurde die Bühne wieder in Betrieb genommen, wobei Opern- durch Kinoaufführungen ersetzt wurden.

Auf der Freilichtbühne finden heute auch Theater- und Ballettaufführungen, Sinfoniekonzerte, Folklore-Veranstaltungen und Rock- und Pop-Konzerte statt.
